A little about me

Hello everyone! My name is Eliana Fuchs.

I’m happiest when I’m swimming, baking, or in the mountains hiking and jumping in alpine lakes. I feel fulfilled when contributing to causes I care about, like advancing gender equity in science, fighting climate change, and fostering environmental justice. These passions motivated me in my research on Li-ion battery cathodes in the Chueh Group during undergrad, and they guide my work at UCSB.

Research-wise, I'm working to understand the redox processes and reaction mechanisms in Li-S solid-state batteries using ex-situ and eventually in-situ magnetic resonance spectroscopy. By examining potential sources of irreversibility and degradation, this work will reveal design rules to improve the coulombic efficiency and cycle life of Li-S batteries.
